Twins offensive struggles continue, fall to Angels
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (KELO) — The Minnesota offense could only muster five hits Monday as they fell to the Angels 6-2, suffering their fourth straight loss.
The Twins have now won just six games in their last 21 attempts.
Minnesota rookie David Festa struggled on the mound Monday. Nolan Schanuel single in two in the first and then Brandon Drury blasts a two-run homerun in the third.
The Angels led 4-0 before the Twins finally scored in the third. Carlos Santana singled in Michael Helman to pull within three.
Kyle Farmer hit a solo homerun in the fourth to close the gap to two.
However, Niko Kavadas wouldn’t let that last long. The left hit a 368 foot homerun in the sixth to make the lead 6-2 and the Twins offense couldn’t recover.
Minnesota could only pull together a single and walk in the final four innings as the lack luster performance led to another loss.
THE RECORD
The Twins are now 76-68. Minnesota is now 2.5 games back of the Royals for the second wild card.
They’re also just three games ahead of the Red Sox, Tigers and Seahawks for the third wild card spot.
