Eliand, 18, was being held Tuesday in the Wichita County Jail in lieu of $2.75 million bail, and Banks, 18, was being held in lieu of $1.75 million bail, according to jail records.

Anyone accused of a crime is presumed innocent unless convicted in a court of law.

Jones, 23, was shot during a robbery attempt and died later at a hospital, according to Wichita Falls Police.

Officers arrested Eliand and Banks two days later.

According to allegations in arrest affidavits filed in the case, police found Jones in the grass at the intersection of Calhoun and Wichita streets. Another robbery victim was with him.

Jones had been shot twice. One bullet grazed his chest, and the other went into his groin.

He was transported to United Regional Health Care System where he died May 29.

Officers also met with two other witnesses.

Witnesses told police they and Jones had been at their apartment in the 200 block of East Wichita Street when they decided to go to a store at Martin Luther King Boulevard and Lincoln Street. After buying some items, they all walked back toward their apartment.

They said two men wearing black hoodies and ski masks approached them and both pulled out handguns. One of the men demanded "everything you got.”

They told police in an attempt to stop the robbery, Jones  jumped toward one man and grabbed the handgun. They said he tucked the handgun down into his waist while the assailant still held it.

The suspect fired two shots, and both assailants fled, according to allegations.

On May 30, the Wichita Falls Police Department SWAT team executed a search warrant at 406B Calhoun St., and Eiland ran but was caught, according to a release from the police department.

During a search of the scene, police found a thin black balaclava style mask and two bullet casings.

One of the witnesses told police he recognized the voice of one of the suspects as Eiland, who lived in the 400 block of Calhoun Street about 100 feet away from the robbery scene.
