Victim falls for scammer pretending to be Bee Gees singer

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A woman fell victim to a scam where someone was pretending to be a singer from the Bee Gees, police stated.

On Tuesday officers were called to Mill Street in Wilkes-Barre for a report of a scam.

According to the Wilkes-Barre City Police Department, the victim was texting a person she believed to be Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees.

The victim said the suspected scammer requested her to purchase six Apple gift cards and provide him with the information on the cards and her credit card information.

The investigation is ongoing.
