Viral video shows President Biden jokingly put on Trump hat: Watch
On Wednesday, after a morning of memorials in commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, President Joe Biden briefly put on a red Trump hat at an event in Pennsylvania.
The now-viral moment shows Biden jokingly putting on the hat during a visit with firefighters in Shanksville, Pennsylvania near where one of the four hijacked planes crashed on Sept. 11, 2001. Later on Wednesday, Trump also made an appearance in Shanksville.
Following the viralization of the footage across the internet, the White House said Biden wore the cap as a sign of unity.
Video from the event shows Biden exchanging some friendly words with a Trump supporter in the crowd before both men swap caps in a gesture of what Andrew Bates, White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary clarified as a sign of “bipartisan unity.”

It’s not the first time Republicans have joked with Democrats over wearing red Trump hats. The night before, in the debate between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump joked about sending Harris one of his red Make America Great Again hats.
“She’s going to my philosophy now. In fact, I was going to send her a MAGA hat,” Trump said during Tuesday’s debate.
The internet reacts
Following the incident, the internet had something to say about the fact Biden wore the hat of his former political opponent.
“Thanks for the support, Joe!,” the Trump campaign said in a social media post.
