Do I need to register to vote?
Yes.
How do I do that?
You can register to vote online, by mail or in person at your local election authority.
What's the deadline?
The online registration deadline for the general election is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 20. If you’re registering by mail, make sure your form is postmarked by Tuesday, October 8. Regular registration also ends on October 8, but you can still register and vote during early voting and on Election Day.
Where do I find out where my polling site is?
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5. To find your polling station, enter your address into the state’s Polling Place Lookup tool.
Can I vote by mail?
Apply online by visiting the State Board of Elections' tool, selecting your county and following the prompts. Alternatively, download and complete an application from the State Board of Elections' website, then mail or deliver it to your election authority.
What's the latest date I can turn in my ballot?
Make sure to return your completed ballot to your local election authority by Election Day. Some counties may offer secure ballot drop boxes for your convenience. Remember, you cannot return your completed mail ballot to your polling place.
Is there a way I can track my ballot?
Illinois does not offer ballot tracking.
What if I need help getting to the polling site?
If you foresee having trouble getting to the polls, you can request a mail-in ballot.
