Do I need to register to vote?
Yes, you’ll need to register to vote in Michigan. Check your registration status here.
How do I do that?
You can register online here or in-person at a Secretary of State branch office, your municipal or county clerk’s office or the office of many state agencies. You can also print and mail in a paper voter registration application and mail or hand deliver it to your municipal clerk’s office.
What's the deadline?
The deadline to register online or by mail is Oct. 21, but you can register in-person through Election Day.

Can I vote by mail?
You can request an absentee ballot online, by printing and mailing a paper form or in-person at your local clerk’s office. Online and mail applications must be received by Nov. 1. Find more detailed information about absentee voting here.
What's the latest date I can turn in my ballot?
Absentee ballots must be received by your clerk’s office by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Military and overseas ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received within six days afterwards.
