Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) have both agreed to an Oct. 1 vice presidential candidates debate hosted by CBS News.

Vance also said that he would do another VP faceoff, this one hosted by CNN on Sept. 18. Walz has not yet agreed to that event.

Vance wrote on X, “The American people deserve as many debates as possible, which is why President Trump has challenged Kamala to three of them already. Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well. I look forward to seeing you at both!”

On Wednesday, Walz accepted a Oct. 1 date for a CBS News debate. The network said that Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan will moderate the event, to be held in New York.

Each cycle since 1984, there has been a debate of vice presidential candidates, but there has never been more than one match up of the running mates.

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have agreed to debate on Sept. 10, at an event sponsored by ABC News. Trump has said he will do other debates; Harris has not yet agreed to any additional matchups.

A CNN spokesperson said, “CNN invited both Senator Vance and Governor Walz to a Vice Presidential debate this fall, and Senator Vance has accepted. We are always in communication with the campaigns around opportunities for the American public to hear from leading candidates for President and Vice President of the United States, and we look forward to this programming in the fall.”
