VP Kamala Harris agrees to three possible debate dates with Sen. JD Vance on CBS
WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris is ready to debate JD Vance and has now accepted three potential dates for a vice-presidential face-to-face hosted by CBS News, according to a Biden-Harris campaign official.
In late May, Harris accepted the network's invitation to a debate on either July 23 or Aug. 13. On Wednesday, she also accepted Aug. 12 as a potential date.
The Trump-Vance campaign has yet to accept the proposed CBS debate.
"The VP will take it to J.D. Vance," Biden campaign advisory board member and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren said earlier this week. "She is strong. She knows what she's talking about, and she doesn't give an inch."
With the Republican ticket locked in, Biden's campaign reissued the challenge and put the onus on Trump's campaign to agree.
"The vice president is fully prepared to take him on," Biden campaign spokesman T.J. Ducklo said.
During the call, the campaign sought to frame Vance as a threat to women's reproductive rights and a friend to billionaires.
"Trump and Vance have an agenda focused on themselves and their wealthy donor friends. President Biden and Vice President Harris are fighting for the American people," Biden campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillion charged.
