New Waco fire chief sworn in

WACO, Texas (FOX 44) – Waco’s new fire chief was officially sworn in on Monday morning!

A brief ceremony for Scott Walker was held in the community room at Fire Station #6, located at 1006 N. 25th Street. Refreshments were served following the ceremony.

Chief Walker brings over 30 years of fire service experience, according to the City of Waco. He comes from the Phoenix Fire Department, where he served as Executive Assistant Fire Chief.

In Phoenix, he operated the fifth-largest city in the United States, showcasing his expertise in every aspect of a modern, all-hazards fire department. His diverse experience includes fire operations, fire prevention, emergency management, fire logistics, public information and fiscal management.

The city says Walker holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Safety and Emergency Management from Grand Canyon University, and an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Fire Science from Phoenix Community College. He has also completed the Naval Postgraduate Leadership Program.

Walker was selected from a pool of 60 applicants after a nationwide search. The city says his impressive leadership qualities and extensive experience make him an invaluable asset
to the community.
