AUSTINBURG, Ohio (WJW) ā€” Dark, swirling clouds were seen above Austinburg while a tornado warning was in effect for Ashtabula County on Wednesday afternoon.

ā€œWhat we saw in the clouds earlier today, in the storm that passed through Ashtabula, was rotation,ā€ said FOX 8 meteorologist DontaĆ© Jones. ā€œThis is the rotating of winds that we pick up on radar. Sometimes that rotation can form a funnel cloud, which in turn can form a tornado. Luckily in this case, it was only rotation and no reports of funnels or tornadoes.ā€

The National Weather Service issued the warning at about 1 p.m., after locating a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado about 8 miles southeast of Ashtabula, moving east at 20 mph.
