The first and only currently scheduled debate between Republican candidate Donald Trump and now Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris will take place on Sept. 10, one of the dates originally blocked off for Trump to debate President Joe Biden when he was still running for a second term.

MSNBC, NBC and many other networks have plans for coverage of the debate, which will take place on ABC. There will not be an audience. Ways to stream, times and other details of how to watch the first presidential debate between Trump and Kamala Harris can be found below.

ABC News’ Television Station WPVI-TV/6ABC will co-produce a preview special, “The ABC News Presidential Debate | Race for the White House.”World News Tonight anchor and managing editor David Muir and ABC News Live “Prime” anchor Linsey Davis will moderate the debate.

Race for the White House, the primetime pre-debate special, will start at 8 p.m. ET with anchors Martha Raddatz and Jonathan Karl. Mary Bruce and Rachel Scott will also contribute.

The carriage dispute between Disney and DirecTV may pose a challenge for those hoping to watch via a DirecTV subscription because Disney-owned channels, such as ABC, have been nixed from the satellite operator.

CBS

CBS News’ live, multiplatform debate coverage begins at 5:00 PM, ET, on CBS News 24/7, followed by primetime coverage at 8:00 PM, ET on the CBS Television Network, CBS News 24/7 and Paramount+. CBS News will simulcast the presidential debate hosted by ABC News across television and streaming platforms starting at 9:00 PM, ET.

CNN

CNN will simulcast the debate. Programming surrounding the event will start with Jake Tapper reporting live from Philadelphia and anchoring Debate Night in America: The Lead at 4 p.m. ET, and he will later join Anderson Cooper at 8 p.m. ET ahead of the debate.

Debate Night in America: Post-Debate Analysis begins as soon as the debate concludes, with Anderson Cooper and Jake Tapper leading coverage alongside CNN’s political experts until 1aET. Kaitlan Collins will conduct interviews from the spin room.

C-SPAN

C-SPAN will simulcast the debate alongside ABC. Coverage on the C-SPAN networks will start at 8 p.m. ET.

Fox News

Fox Media’s live coverage of the debate will kick off at 8 p.m. ET with a Jesse Watters Primetime preview.

From 9 to 11 p.m. ET, FNC will present FOX News Democracy 2024: ABC Presidential Debate, featuring the simulcast of ABC’s presidential debate. Beginning at 8 PM/ET, Shannon Bream will anchor coverage of the debate on FOX Network, which will also simulcast the ABC debate, with analysis from FNC contributors Marie Harf, Katie Pavlich, Marc Thiessen and Juan Williams along with additional reporting from correspondent Alexandria Hoff.

The Grio

The Allen Group’s television digital media platform theGrio will simulcast the debate at 9 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. PT Tuesday on theGrio Cable Television Network.

MSNBC

Morning Joe will kick off MSNBC’s coverage the day of the debate at 6 a.m.ET. Rachel Maddow will lead MSNBC’s primetime coverage of the debate starting at 7 p.m. ET. MSNBC will also simulcast the debate alongside ABC, and Jen Psaki will continue with special coverage after the session from midnight until 2 a,m. ET.

NBC

NBC News will broadcast the full debate live with additional coverage starting at 8 p.m. ET. NBCNews.com and the NBC News app will also feature coverage throughout the day.

Lester Holt and Savannah Guthrie will anchor NBC’s pre-debate prime-time special at 8 p.m. At 9 p.m., the debate will air on NBC and NBC News Now.

NewsNation

NewsNation will present special live coverage of the presidential debate from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET. Chris Cuomo will host a preview hour special starting at 8p.m., and he will co-anchor coverage with Dan Abrams after the event.

NewsNation will simulcast the debate.

Will the microphones be muted?

ABC revealed that each candidate’s microphone will be muted when it is not their turn to speak.

What are the debate rules for VP Harris and Donald Trump?

There won’t be any opening statements. Each candidate will receive a pen, a pad of paper and bottled water. Candidates will be given two minutes to answer questions, two minutes for rebuttals and one minute for follow-ups.

A coin toss dictated the podium placement and the order of closing statements with Trump winning and choosing the closing statement while Harris chose stage left for her podium placement. Campaign staff won’t be allowed to interact with candidates during commercial breaks.
