CLEVELAND (WJW) – Join us in welcoming award-winning journalist Rex Smith to FOX 8 News!
Rex, a Northeast Ohio native, grew up in Amherst before he attended Kent State University. He’s returning to FOX 8 after working as an intern with Kenny Crumpton in 2016.
“It’s been a whirlwind. It’s very exciting to come home back to FOX 8 where I was once an intern,” he said on Monday. “I have a lot of family and friends here. Now moved my family here with my wife and my daughter, so it’s all just very exciting and taking it all in day-by-day and ready to keep moving forward.”

Rex spent the past eight years in news at stations in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Omaha, Nebraska. He has received two Great Lakes Emmy nominations as both a news anchor and a reporter.
