Trump’s new 2020 election indictment, explained
Special counsel Jack Smith revived Donald Trump’s two federal cases this week, which are over his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results and his alleged mishandling of classified documents.
2020 election case: Smith narrowed Trump’s previous indictment after the Supreme Court ruled former presidents are immune from criminal prosecution for official acts taken in office. Trump called for the case to be dismissed. [Yahoo News]
What’s different: Although it keeps the original charges, it cuts certain details in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling and describes Trump’s efforts as a candidate and citizen rather than as chief executive. Dive deeper into the changes. [The Hill]
Classified docs case: On Monday, Smith filed an appeal in Trump’s case over his alleged attempt to obstruct authorities from retrieving classified documents after the judge overseeing the case controversially threw it out. [New York Times]

3 QUESTIONS
...about Only Murders in the Building Season 4
Only Murders in the Building, Hulu’s mystery series starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, is back. I asked entertainment reporter Kelsey Weekman about the new season.
Lily: Refresh my memory, where did we leave off at the end of Season 3?
Kelsey: I think it’s pretty straightforward: There was another murder in the building! But as the gang investigates the case this season, they’re followed by actors who will play them in the movie about their true crime podcast, adding another layer of complications.
Lily: Any exciting new or returning guest stars this season?
Kelsey: The trailer reveals that our beloved Meryl Streep is back. But I’m also excited for new guest stars Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy, Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Kind and Melissa McCarthy.
Lily: Is it worth watching?
Kelsey: I’ve seen the first few episodes and love it! It has the same elements that have made the show so endearing while injecting fresh Hollywood satire.
Go deeper: Here’s a guide to all of the season’s cameos.
