Whoopi Goldberg Explains Unfortunate Side Effect in Candid Health Update Following 4th COVID Infection
Nearly a week before President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID, Whoopi Goldberg also contracted the illness—for the fourth time—and when she returned to The View, she shared an interesting take on their shared condition.
On Thursday's Hot Topics discussion, the panel talked about whether Biden will drop out of the presidential race, with Joy Behar saying, “You know, the COVID in a way is like a good way for him to get out. He needs this time to show how strong he is and he’s sick and time is very, very short now.”
In response, Goldberg referenced her own experience with COVID.
“I’m just getting over COVID—again—and I can barely remember anybody’s name...there are times when I go for a word and it’s not there, and I’m just not going to go and decide that’s the problem. If he falls low in this next debate, I’ll consider changing my outlook. And if it’s too late it’s too late.”

When former Trump White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin asked Goldberg if waiting would be risky, the 68-year-old answered, "Not to me, because I believe Joe has what it takes to get things done. I believe it."
This is Biden's third time being diagnosed with COVID, according to USA Today, and he's currently experiencing mild symptoms. Biden and Goldberg aren't the only ones to test positive lately, as a recent surge in COVID cases has led to an increase in emergency room visits and deaths.
The next presidential debate is scheduled for September 10.
