Woman ‘grabbed from behind,’ sexually assaulted near Cascade Valley Metro Park

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — A 33-year-old woman told police she was exiting a bathroom along a Summit Metro Parks trail when a man grabbed her from behind and assaulted her.

Police responded to a 911 call regarding a woman screaming for help just after 9 a.m. Monday and immediately arrested Issac Issiah Armour, 32, of Akron, in the attack, according to a Tuesday news release from Akron police.

It happened near a trailhead in the 1100 block of Cuyahoga Street, according to the release. That’s near the Cascade Valley Metro Park.

The woman was “visibly shaken” while speak with police, according to the release. She said she was coming from the bathroom when Armour “grabbed her from behind and began assaulting her.”

“Moments later, three good Samaritan women heard the victim screaming for help and went to her aid,” reads the release. “During the attack, one of the women reportedly struck the suspect in the head with a rock, and together, they helped pull the victim away from her attacker.”

Police arrested the alleged attacker “without incident” and also seized his vehicle.

Armour is now jailed, facing two felony counts of gross sexual imposition and misdemeanor counts of unlawful restraint and assault, according to Akron Municipal Court records. He was due for arraignment on Tuesday morning.
