'Yellowstone' star Luke Grimes, Jeff Ruby donate to East Palestine residents
Jeff Ruby's family and actor and singer Luke Grimes have joined forces to offer aid to East Palestine residents.
The Cincinnati restaurateur and his family will visit East Palestine, Ohio, Friday morning with Grimes, who stars in the TV series, "Yellowstone." Ruby and Grimes will distribute 250 water filtration systems to residents and donate $100,000 after the village was impacted by a toxic train derailment last month.
Filtration systems were handed out on a first come, first served basis at 333 W. Main St. starting at 8 a.m. Friday, according to a press release.

“We are extremely grateful for this generous donation from Luke Grimes and the Jeff Ruby Family," East Palestine Mayor Trent Conaway said in a statement. "Their support will help us move forward toward our vision of a thriving and resilient community. While our water is already safe to drink, the generous donation of water filtration systems will provide an extra layer of protection and peace of mind for our residents while further enhancing the quality of our water supply. We are grateful for everyone’s commitment to ensuring our community's health and safety.”
According to the release, Ruby's family contributed half of the donation.

“Luke Grimes and his team reached out to discuss how we could jointly assist the people of East Palestine in providing resources,” Britney Ruby Miller, CEO of Jeff Ruby Culinary Entertainment, said. “Our foundation core values are helping people during disasters with immediate relief so we knew we had to help those in East Palestine."
Proceeds from merchandise supporting Grimes' new song "Oh Ohio" will also benefit residents.
“Once I saw the news of the train derailment in East Palestine, I knew I had to do something to help the residents get back on their feet,” Grimes, who grew up in Dayton, said. “With this visit and the dedicated fundraising, we hope we are able to continue to shine a light on this devastating incident and inspire others to step up and help too.”
This week, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said Norfolk Southern Corp. agreed to hire only Ohio companies and workers to do "all future repair and replacement work" related to the train derailment. The wreck, which spilled more than 100,000 gallons of toxic chemicals into the air, could take up to three months to be cleaned up, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said.
