CCBC ushers in new era as college names George Bellinger as next women's volleyball coach
CENTER TWP. — The Community College of Beaver County this week named a new head coach for its women’s volleyball program, hiring a familiar face in the area.
George Bellinger replaces former head coach Rose Leslie who spent two years with the program during the 2022-23 seasons.
Before being named the head coach at CCBC, Bellinger had spent over three decades coaching both boys and girls high school volleyball around the Beaver County area with stops at West Allegheny, Hopewell Area, Blackhawk, Monaca, Ambridge Area, Western Beaver, and most recently Freedom Area.
Along with his coaching experience at the high school level, Bellinger spent 25 years as a USA Volleyball club director and coach. He now is the director of Club Hollywood Pennsylvania, while also working full-time as a high school counselor at Aliquippa Junior-Senior High School.
The CCBC administration said Monday it is eager for Bellinger to take over the program as it ushers in a new era in hopes of recruiting local talent to the team.
“We are extremely excited to have George lead our volleyball program. His extensive experience and local connections will be pivotal to our volleyball team taking the next steps forward,” said Tyler Care, director of student life and athletic administration.
“George’s experience and involvement in the community will be invaluable when recruiting and retaining athletes,” CCBC Dean of Students Brittney Golden said. “He makes a difference in students' lives both on and off the court.”
CCBC looks to rebound from a 2-20 record during the 2023 season.
The Titans will commence their 2024 season at the end of August and compete in their home opener of the regular season on Sep. 21 at the CCBC Dome.
