Finally Wrestlemania coming back to Philadelphia? Maybe, but it's not set
He didn't even give a spoiler warning!
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro may have slipped when his post on X said WWE is bringing Wrestlemania back to Philadelphia in 2026.
The post didn't stay long, it was quickly deleted and no other announcements of the annual two-night event returning to Philly has been mentioned.
But there have been rumors.
Maybe not in 2026 since Philly hosted WrestleMania 40 in April, but during the event in the spring, officials from both Philadelphia and WWE indicated they were very happy with how things went for the biggest Wrestlemania of all time.
The event featured Cody Rhodes, with help from John Cena and the Undertaker, beating Roman Reigns, who was assisted by his family, including the Rock, for the undisputed championship. There were also Philly specials, with former Eagle Jason Kelce hooking up with his former teammate and current Eagle star Lane Johnson to interfere in a match.
Philadelphia has a long tradition with WWE dating back to the 1980s when it would run monthly shows at the Spectrum.
The first time WWE brought Wrestlemania to Philly was in 1999 when Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated the Rock for the championship at the Core States Spectrum.
It sold out the arena, but since then it's grown tremendously. It went from a one-night show in arenas to two-night spectaculars in stadiums.
WWE announced 145,298 fans attended the two-nights of Wrestlemania this year.
Next year, Wrestlemania will be held in Las Vegas over Easter weekend.
