Maybe it's their grace on the ice or toughness in the brawls, but NHL players seem to have little trouble scoring celebrity wives. From Janet Jones' 34-year marriage with Wayne Gretzky to Elisha Cuthbert's relationships with pro hockey players, several famous ladies have fallen for the guys on skates.
Here is the list of the most renowned NHL WAGs:
Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher have been the ultimate NHL power couple since 2010. Underwood – the winner of the fourth season of American Idol turned country music queen – was introduced to Fisher by her bandmate in 2008. Fisher played as the centre for Ottawa Senators and Nashville Predators.
The couple first built a home in Ottawa before moving to Underwood’s Nashville estate after Fisher’s move to the Predators. The couple’s two sons were born in 2015 and 2019.
Janet Jones
The American actress in “The Flamingo Kid“ and “A League of Their Own“ is married to hockey legend Wayne ‘The Great One’ Gretzky. Gretzky, known for his heroics with the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, St.Louis Blues, and the New York Rangers met Jones on a show named “Dance Fever“ in 1984. The couple tied the knot four years later.
Gretzky, who commanded some of the highest NHL salaries during his heyday, is something of a national hero and the couple’s high-profile wedding was broadcasted live across Canada. The Gretzkys have five children.
Elisha Cuthbert
Born in Calgary, Cuthbert loves her hockey players. Best known for her roles in “The Girl Next Door“ and “24,” Cuthbert became engaged to Dion Phaneuf in September 2012. Phaneuf was then-captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the couple married in 2013.
Elisha and Dion welcomed a daughter in 2017 and a son in 2022. They first lived in Ottawa before moving to Los Angeles, where Phaneuf retired with the LA Kings. Before Phaneuf, Cuthbert had a two-year relationship with NHL player Sean Avery.
Noureen DeWulf
The “Back-up Plan“ and “West Bank Story“ star married Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller in 2011. Miller was part of the U.S. team that clinched the silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.
DeWulf, who starred opposite Charlie Sheen in “Anger Management,” began dating Miller in 2009. The couple was engaged for eight months before tying the knot. They have two children together. DeWulf recently tweeted her joy on the Sabres retiring Miller's number 30.
