Today, the Italian fashion brand Ferragamo launched the video series, A Man’s Story, celebrating the designer’s first foray into America 100 years ago. In it, leading men like A$AP Rocky, Henrik Lundqvist, and Ryan McGinley discuss the moments that changed their lives.
A$AP Rocky, who’s filmed strolling the beach in a very clean-cut, double-breasted suit recalls when he knew it made it. It was at the clothing store Alife Rivington Club in 2011 where he performed “Purple Swag” and “Peso.” There was a line around the block of fans dressed like the performer, anxiously waiting to cheer on their idol. “It was incredible. When I got in the car on my way home, I cried because I was happy.”
A$AP Rocky offered more insight to Yahoo Style for those aspiring to succeed. “I have this theory that I believe in: you don’t have success without risk or sacrifice,” Rocky explained, “You have to either take a risk or make a huge sacrifice in order to obtain any kind of success.”

Ferragamo’s Creative Director, Massimiliano Giornetti, explained that these men represent the brand’s aesthetic, but also its vision, “For a man to have a vision and the courage of his convictions is both noble and timeless, as relevant today as it was a century ago when Salvatore Ferragamo went out on a limb to launch his shoe-making business.”
The series is available on Ferragamo’s website, and the looks can be shopped today—just in time for the holidays.
