Anne Hathaway Cuts Her Pants Into Shorts to Fit ‘This Summer’s Thighs’
Anne Hathaway gave birth to her first son, Jonathan Shulman, on March 24, and, as she’s admitted, becoming a parent has transformed her life in a lot of ways. One of the big changes, in addition to being responsible for a human being, has been a shift in her weight.
While she’s been going to the gym (where she recently experienced a body-shaming experience) and strength training, she isn’t back to her pre-baby weight — but she’s in no rush to do so and is even making her clothing work.
On Instagram, the actress shared a photo of some long pants she cut into shorts using thick fabric scissors, a chalk measuring line, and a mini pencil. Hathaway wrote that there “is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever). There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all).” She added that there’s no harm “in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts, because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs.” She concluded her message saying, “Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It’s all love (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.) Peace xx #noshame #lovewhatyouhavebeengiven”

Hathaway isn’t the only celebrity mom to send positive post-baby body messages out to the world. Chrissy Teigen, who gave birth to Luna Legend in April, recognized that “You just realize you have to give yourself time and understand that you push out a baby, and it took this long to put on the weight, and it’s not going to peel right off, and that’s OK.” Blake Lively made the same point to Yahoo Beauty. “I think a woman’s body after having a baby is pretty amazing,” she said. “You don’t have to have be Victoria’s Secret-ready right away. You’ve just done this incredible miracle that life has to offer.” She added, “You gave birth to a human being. I would really like to see that celebrated.”
