Men Took Plenty of Fashion Risks at the 2015 Grammy Awards
1 of 16
Nile Rodgers You may recognize this performer from Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” music video, where he shreds the guitar. The former founder of ‘70s disco group Chic, Rodgers walked the Grammy’s red carpet looking cool while tossing up peace signs in an arty, printed suit.
Eric Bellinger
2 of 16
Eric Bellinger, whose “New Flame” was nominated for best R&B song, matched the red carpet in a head-to-toe leather look that evoked Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” getup.
Ne-Yo
3 of 16
Ne-Yo, who always opts for an old-school look, showed up with his usual top hat and olive green suit, giving Grammys menswear a subtle twist.
Verse Simmonds
4 of 16
The singer chose a glistening satin blue suit that showed every wrinkle, fold, and crease. He topped off the look with sharp, studded shoes.
Ryan Adams
5 of 16
Ryan Adams, nominated for best rock performance for his song “Gimme Something Good,” took to the carpet in his rendition of a tuxedo—the “Canadian Tux"—in all denim.
Pharrell with wife, Helen Lasichanh
6 of 16
The duo sported a very athletic look. Pharrell ditched the hat this year, suiting up in Adidas (which actually lit up all-white with the flash of a camera). His wife, Helen Lasichanh towered over the star in a full jumpsuit look to match.
Billy Ray Cyrus
7 of 16
Miley Cyrus’s dad looked like the quintessential country man, boots and all. And still repping his long locks, he certainly reminded us of his "Achy Breaky Heart” music video from 1992.
Brann Dailor
8 of 16
The musician wowed the paparazzi with his childish balloon patterned suit and green Sperry top-siders to match his ruffled shirt. Say it loud and proud, Brann Dailor!
Chris Brown
9 of 16
Chris Brown looked unfinished and sloppy with his untucked shirt and bowtie slung around his neck. Oh, and blue hair.
Ed Sheeran
10 of 16
Ed Sheeran forgot his jacket, showing off his arm tattoos and man jewelry. Sadly, the musician’s dress choice also showed off his very tight vest and sloppy tie.
Frankie Grande
11 of 16
TV personality/actor Frankie Grande opted for a full head-to-toe red look (or should we say, hair-to-toe?)
Hit-Boy
12 of 16
This music producer wore satin pants and fancy slippers to match. Hmm, sounds cozy.
John Waters
13 of 16
The wacky director showed up to the awards with his usual penciled on moustache and patterned jacket.
Malik Yusef
14 of 16
Recording artist Malik Yusef attended the awards in sweatpants and army boots.
Tom Jones
15 of 16
The 74 year-old Welsh singer best known for “What’s New Pussycat” made an unexpected appearance at the Grammy’s buttoned up in a bright blue suit, in contrast to his vintage look consisting of tight white shirts and high-waisted bell-bottoms.
Nick Jonas
16 of 16
Nick Jonas sported a checkered Versace suit with sneakers.
The Grammys red carpet hosted out-of-the-box fashion from Madonna’s Givenchy haute couture look to Bad Gal Riri’s luffa-puff gown. Though the girls weren’t the only ones taking the event by storm. Some guys also showed up in outrageous looks that defied traditional Grammy’s dress code—the typical black, navy, or grey suit. Pharrell pulled out all the stops, as usual, with a sporty take on a tuxedo that actually lit up in all white when camera flashes would hit, while John Waters, whose wacky antics translated into an eccentric jacket with purple sneakers to match. Yahoo Style recaps the most out-there men’s fashions. Let’s hear it for the boys!
