J.W. Anderson Can Predict the Future of Fashion

We’re just wrapping up Day 4 of Paris Fashion Week—and it was a big one. There was Dior’s super FW15 collection, models dressed like futuristic couture robots at Balenciaga, and—my personal favorite—the Loewe show which kicked it all off at 9:30am this morning. These designers are the bona fide trend setters and what they show will have a direct impact on what the rest of us will be lusting, wanting, and—for the lucky few—hopefully wearing. In terms of J.W. Anderson’s collection for Loewe, there was lots of leather in the form of long dresses and coats that were worn over loose, slouchy pants. The styling was impeccable, but we know this is not necessarily how they will be interpreted in the real world so here are my picks on the best takeaway pieces.

1. Cool girls pants—They came in herringbone and tweed, and were worn with with short sweaters or jackets to show off their slouchy-ness.

2. Metallic Staples—Lamé (?) is the fabric of winter 2015. Call it futuristic or disco queen. So much can be fun to be had with these show-stopping pieces.

3. The IT Skirt—The bright color and geometric print can be worn with a plain black turtleneck. Voila! The skirt is the main dish and everything else is an aside.

4. Mac Jackets—With a nod to the past, the classic piece gets a modern upgrade. Expect to see a lot of this piece (or similar styles) next fall.
