Jennifer Lopez Memorialized Selena in Atelier Versace
In 1997, Jennifer Lopez memorialized Selena Quintanilla-Pérez on the silver screen. At 28, she captured the “Amor Prohibido” artist’s vivaciousness in the biopic Selena, and on Thursday night, nearly 20 years later, the 45-year-old looked as if not a day had passed.
At the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards, the American Idol judge paid tribute to the murdered Tejano by performing some of the singer’s greatest hits. Wearing an Atelier Versace ensemble, she sang "Como La Flor,”“Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” “Amor Prohibido,” “I Could Fall In Love,” and “No Me Queda Mas.” Lopez began the medley with a large ruffle train around her waist attached to blush pants with sequin stripes down the side. She also had arm sleeves over a halter crop top to match. But as the tempo picked up, the too cumbersome to dance in frills detached and Jenny From the Block broke out some salsa moves and showed some more skin. On top, Lopez was very on-trend with the young kids these days in just a bra that showed off her hard-earned abs.
While taking in Lopez bop to "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" in head-to-toe blush pink was certainly a delight, her first outfit of the night was just as sexy—in a less overt way. The white lace jumpsuit from one of Lopez’s go-to designer’s Zuhair Murad was scandalously sheer but well-placed embroidery prevented a fashion disaster. The white cape also added an air of sophistication to an otherwise over-the-top look.
If in another two decades, Lopez looks 40 when she’s 60, I wouldn’t be surprised.
