A bevy of artists have paid tribute to Kate Moss—from Chuck Close to Lucian Freud, the British supermodel’s been a muse to more than just fashion. In 2006, British artist Marc Quinn built a bronze sculpture of Moss, called Sphinx. The figure, painted white, met Moss’ real-life measurements, and Quinn told The Guardian, “This is not a portrait of a person, it’s a portrait of an image twisted by our collective desires. She is a knotted Venus of our age.” Now Moss’s husband uses it as a hat stand.
Vogue UK scored an intimate look at Moss’s home—it once belonged to poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge—in their December issue, but the photos just hit the web. There’s a unicorn, a Porsche, and an original light from Studio 54. We learn that Moss collects coffee table books and puts on Chanel No.5 after a bath or before bed: “If I’m going out, I’ll layer other fragrances on top.” She’s very organized—“My handbags are arranged by: black vintage, black daytime, bling evening, Chanel, colourful daytime, and, lastly, simple clutches. I usually carry a classic Louis Vuitton bowling bag.”—and she really, really loves Christian Louboutin’s classic Pigalle heel: “I have so many pairs that Christian designed a style with a sharper toe and nail-thin heel, which he named the So Kate.”
As for the Sphinx, Moss’s statue sits in husband Jamie Hince’s dressing room and holds the rock stars hats. Should you find yourself in London, you can buy your own version at the St. Martin’s Lane Hotel.
