Model of the Year Cara Delevingne Worries About a Wardrobe Malfunction at the British Fashion Awards
Cara Delevingne won model of the year, wearing a ground-sweeping dress with a major thigh slit — she even revealed that she feared flashing her private parts to the paparazzi it was so high. The two-time champ was presented the award by a very special trio — her sister, Poppy Delevingne in Topshop, and friends Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss — and her work this year proves that not only is she the queen of the British fashion scene, but the world’s as well. When asked to name the instant in 2014 that stands out the most, she said: “How dare you make me pick one moment!” Asked how proud she is to be British, the sexy Brit responded that she’s “ever longingly” and “unconditionally” proud, and that’s one of the reasons why she got the tattoo “Made in England” on the bottom of her foot.
Anna Wintour already has the honor of being an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, but now she has an Outstanding Achievement Award from her home country to add to her collection of distinctions. The British Fashion Award is extra special because it was presented to her by designer John Galliano. “Anna has been so supportive all through my highs and my lows. She reached out to me when I had become an outcast. There were almost daily phone calls of inspiration, encouragement, and practical advice. This made all of the difference,” Galliano said. “I wouldn’t be here today — healthy, happy, and embarking on my new design adventure — if it wasn’t for her. So there are really no words to adequately express my gratitude.”

While all the other winners of the night were grateful for their prizes, Simone Rocha just couldn’t believe that she was one of the lucky ones to go home with a trophy. Rocha might have been shocked, but it’s not all that surprising considering the year she’s had. A collaboration with J. Brand and a well-received collection, the honor is well-deserved. She’s been considered up and coming for years but the New Establishment Award solidifies that she has officially arrived.

Victoria Beckham was “beyond surprised” and definitely wasn’t expecting to win Brand of the Year. She even revealed that while she noticed others with notes to whom to call out when accepting their awards, she came completely unprepared. Her success, though, isn’t as shocking. The former singer, who recently opened a store on Dover Street in London, said that she’s focused, and because she believed in herself and wants to be the best version of herself, she’s found her way to the top. “If anyone can be inspired by what I’ve accomplished then I’m happy,” she said. “I want to empower women and if I can do that it will all be good.”

And about so many British stars — Christopher Kane, J.W. Anderson, and Erdem, to name just a few. But John for me has always been special…he is for me a Londoner first.”
