The Duchess of Cambridge and her adorable son Prince George weren’t the only royals in the spotlight over the weekend. On Saturday, Prince Carl Philip of Sweden married Sofia Hellqvist in a lavish affair that included Enya, couture, a horse-drawn carriage, and celebrations in the Stockholm streets. While the lingerie model-turned-princess has yet to reach Kate Middleton worldwide adoration status, her nuptials were still widely-followed, with Swedish national television even broadcasting the entire day from the vows to party. Not a subscriber to SVT? No worries. Here’s everything you need to know about the other royal wedding.
For the rehearsal dinner on Friday, the former reality starlet wore something blue. She chose a short-sleeve, blue Zuhair Murad dress with crystal embellishment covering the sheer illusion top. Her still husband-to-be looked incredibly dapper in a supremely well-tailored tuxedo.
The ceremony was conducted at the palace’s royal chapel in Stockholm. The bride walked down the aisle to Enya’s “Father in Heaven” with 550 guests looking on. Some of the dignitaries included:
Queen Sonja of Norway in a fabulous yellow gown with a full pleated skirt, stacked pearl choker and diamond encrusted crown.
Queen Maxima of the Netherlands in a magenta lace and flower gown with matching rubies in her crown.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway in a pretty pink dress with floral pattern skirt and T-shirt-like attached top with her husband, Crown Prince Haakon of Norway.

And, obviously, so many more.
But Hellqvist out-shined them all (it was her day, after all) in a custom-made, hand-stitched dress by Swedish designer Ida Sjöstedt. Very reminiscent of Middleton’s Sarah Burton custom gown, it too featured long lace sleeves. The 30-year-old’s dress was created in three tones of white, with a long train and hand-embroidered tulle veil to match. Seeing as she was set to become, and now is, Her Royal Highness Princess Sofia, Duchess of Varmland, she also wore a new emerald and diamond tiara instead of borrowing from the archives. Her groom wore a formal uniform from the Swedish Amphibious Corps.
After saying “I do,” the newlywed exited the chapel set to a band playing Coldplay’s “Fix You,” then a serenade by a man singing Rihanna’s “Umbrella” in Swedish, followed by a 21-gun salute. They then entered a horse-drawn carriage and showed off their bliss to their subjects.
Following their love tour of Stockholm, the royals returned to the chapel for a banquet and party the night away.
