Disney’s live-action version of Cinderella hits theaters this Friday, March 13, and with it comes a slew of fashionable options inspired by the fairytale that brides-to-be can wear on the day that they wed their own Prince Charming.
In the film, the gown for “Cindy” was created by costume designer Sandy Powell. It features hand-painted flowers along the neckline and bodice, and a full silk organza skirt that you could use to hide a small village. Apparently it was the perfect dress for actress Lily James, who told Yahoo Style at the film’s premiere that she could have worn more often when filming. “It was beautiful!”
Powell, a three-time Academy Award winner, designed the dress to reflect the character’s personality, “Cinderella wins the Prince’s heart through her goodness, so I wanted to show this through her clothes,” she said in a recent interview. “I wanted her to stay modest and pure even though she was going to be a part of royalty.”
And while James doesn’t necessarily envision her own wedding dress to be as grand as Cinderella’s— she told Yahoo! Style she thinks she’d get married in jeans and a t-shirt after wearing all these gowns— brides who don’t get to wear ball gowns as often won’t need a fairy godmother to create the one for them.
Today marks the release of the a limited-edition gown inspired by the film and created by Alfred Angelo, the design team behind Disney’s Fairy-Tale Weddings collection. The ball gown features a basque waist and full skirt made of organza, satin and tulle. There are three color ways to choose from: An all-white or all-ivory gown ($1,899), or a light-gold colored gown with multi-colored flowers ($1,999). Brides also have an option of necklines: the classic strapless silhouette, or one that resembles the dress in the film with long, fitted organza sleeves. These limited-edition frocks will arrive at Alfred Angelo’s U.S. stores in April.

Of course Disney wouldn’t let their brides walk down the aisle barefoot so they made sure to collaborate with nine designers including Nicholas Kirkwood, Charlotte Olympia, Paul Andrew, and Jimmy Choo to create shoes that are inspired by the glass slipper, each of which incorporates Swarovski crystals.
“I think every girl desires a Cinderella moment in their lives,” Sandra Choi, Creative Director of Jimmy Choo said. “I wanted to create a shoe that felt magical, with alluring sparkle and a feminine, timeless silhouette evoking those childhood emotions.”
While James slips into, and out of, the glass slipper in the film, she has been lucky enough to wear some of these exclusive looks too. “I’ve worn a few of them on the red carpet already, and I’m hoping to wear more of them,” she said.
The shoes range in price from $795 to $4,600 for the Jimmy Choo style, and are each made-to-order, so if you want to accessorize your wedding gown with a pair be aware that it may take anywhere from four to seven months for them to be delivered.
Now, ladies, all you need to do is find some mice, a pumpkin, and your prince and you should be able to live happily ever after.
