Apple AirPods Pro 2 are some of the best earbuds if you’re within the Apple ecosystem, with some excellent active noise cancellation and transparency mode, they’re a great option for those who like to listen to stuff while they commute. The audio fidelity is also excellent and is only slightly outclassed by something like the Sony WF-1000XM4, which makes sense since given they’re a bit newer, but since the XM4s don’t really get the same Apple integrations and pairing, that’s only a minor issue. All in all, for the price they are going for, the AirPods Pro 2 are a steal for anybody looking to upgrade their audio experience.

The Apple iPad 10th Gen is on sale for $300, and at that price, it’s almost a no-brainer if you want a large-screen Apple iPad without spending an arm and a leg on it. There’s a solid 10.9-inch LED panel with a 2360 x 1640 resolution that’s great for watching content or creative work, while the A14 Bionic chip gives a lot of power, although admittedly not as much as some of the newer M-chip iPads. Even so, the A14 is still quite powerful, and when you combine that with a solid battery life and camera, you get a steal of a deal.

The Dell XPS 15 is Dell’s answer to the MacBook Air, serving as a thin and light alternative for those who aren’t in the Apple ecosystem but still want something that isn’t bulky but still has a lot of power. Of course, there are a lot of different configurations, and this one comes with an Intel Core i7-13620H, which is a mid-to-high-end CPU and more than enough for pretty much anything you throw at it, whether it’s productivity or day-to-day related. Best Prime Day small appliance deals

The 4.2-quart Bella Pro air fryer is the countertop appliance to buy this Prime Day, especially given that it’s excellently priced at just $40, although that deal isn’t going to last long, so you should grab it while it lasts. Even though it is on the more budget-friendly side, it still has a pretty solid 3.6-pound capacity and can probably cook enough for four or five people, especially if you’re preparing some other stuff on the side too. It has a 60-minute auto-shut off for safety, and both the cooking pan and tray are dishwasher safe to make cleaning up a lot easier. We also very much appreciate the LED screen that makes using it easier, which is nice to see on a product at this price point.

What is Prime Day?
Prime Day is Amazon’s annual sales event. Originally launched on 15th July 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th birthday, the event has continued to grow by the year.
Crucially, Amazon Prime Day now covers two days of the year with that date typically falling around the early part of July. In 2023, the first day of Prime Day was Amazon’s biggest selling day in history with the two-day event bringing in over $12.90 billion in sales.
The event originally was made available to members in nine countries: the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Canada, and Austria. It’s now a key part of Amazon in over 20 countries.
The idea behind it is to boost sales during the summer period which is when people generally spend less. It’s a marked contrast compared to Black Friday and Cyber Monday which land in late November just in time for the holiday season.
Prime Day has many discounts on physical products but it also extends to other Amazon products like Prime Music, Amazon Fresh grocery delivery, Prime Video, Audible, Kindle Unlimited, and other Amazon-owned properties.
What happens on Prime Day?
When Prime Day officially starts, that often means that you’ll see a large drop in prices across the board at Amazon. That means everything from TVs to home supplies is likely to go on sale, so if you’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to grab something, this is it. Not only that, but a lot of other retailers tend to also hold concurrent sales and sometimes might even have better deals as they try to beat Amazon at its own game, which is why we always look across several retailers before suggesting any specific deal.
Unfortunately, besides the big sales event, nothing else really happens on Prime Day, as Amazon doesn’t hold any parades or physical events that folks can attend. Even so, it’s one of the biggest sales events of the year, so it’s something many folks look forward to throughout the whole year as an opportunity to grab some awesome sales.
Does everything go on sale for Prime Day?
That’s both a yes and a no. For the most part, everything that Amazon makes, such as the Fire TV or the Echo lineup of devices, tends to have some sort of deal on it, even if it’s minimal or part of a bundle. On top of that, a lot of products that Amazon sells and ships tend to get some deal as well, but not necessarily everything. Not only that but items that aren’t sold or shipped by Amazon might not get any deals at all, although most sellers on Amazon tend to take the opportunity to offer deals to take advantage of the event.
So, the long story short is that most items tend to go on sale at Amazon during Prime Day, but not everything. The same goes for a lot of other retailers like Best Buy and Walmart that try to actively outcompete Amazon when it comes to sales. As such, you’re likely to see some of the best deals of the year during Prime Day, so make sure to take advantage of it.
Does Prime Day end at midnight?
Yes, Prime Day ends at midnight. Which midnight, however, is the big question.
Prime Day ends tonight after the clock strikes midnight, Pacific Time. That means that people on the East coast have until nearly 3 AM to do all of their shopping. It might seem unfair if you life on the West coast, but at least you were able to get some early shopping in when Prime Day first started.
It is also important to remember that many of the deals that arise during Prime Day will not end just because Prime Day ends. In fact, there will be many “Prime Day deals” that will still be active for at least a week and maybe even into the end of the month. The bottom line is, if something happens today and you aren’t able to checkout your cart, don’t despair as not all is lost. We definitely encourage it, but a few of your favored items will still have some sort of a sale going on after Prime Day is officially over.
Do you have to checkout your cart during Prime Day?
If a deal is set to end when Prime Day ends, then you’ll need to checkout your cart before its over to still get the deal. If you’re cutting it close for time, this can seem scarier than it is, but don’t worry. Amazon will help you and make sure you’re informed of all price changes. From their coverage of shopping cart prices:
“If the correct price of an item is higher than our stated price, we’ll contact you for instructions before shipping or cancel your order and notify you of this cancellation. This applies only to products sold and shipped by Amazon.com. Sellers may follow different policies in the event of a mis-priced item.”
In other words, your biggest “threat” during this time is items sold by a third party. Do a quick double-check before ordering for peace of mind, if it helps you.
Do other retailers have Prime Day deals?
Yes! If you’re worried you’re going to miss out because you don’t have an Amazon Prime membership (we’ll get to what to do), don’t be. Other retailers almost always launch their own sales at the same time in a bid to attract attention away from Amazon.
In past years, we’ve seen both Best Buy and Walmart launch their own summer sales with sometimes a week of deals emerging to compete with the couple of days that Amazon has to offer.
Does it work out as cheaper? Sometimes. If you don’t have a Prime membership, it makes sense to head to one of these retailers. Also, with the benefit of brick and mortar stores, you can often pick up your purchase the same day as you buy which can prove more convenient than Amazon.
Throughout the year, we see each retailer offering different strengths so knowing where to go depends on this. Best Buy and Walmart often has better TV and laptop deals than Amazon, while it also stocks a lot of outdoor equipment if you need something for your garden or yard. To get to the point — the best plan is for you to check all retailers to see where the best discounts are. Or, more realistically, check back here as it’s our job to monitor the best prices and deals.
Other retailers like Target and Dell are likely to host their own sales so it makes sense to shop around. While planning ahead, have a good think about what you actually need to buy. This is the last big sale until Black Friday and Cyber Monday (although you’ll see smaller sales later in the year) so you want to make sure that you’re organized.
Should you shop Prime Day or wait until Black Friday?
This is a pretty intense question and the answer to it depends on your life situation, philosophy, and current needs. If you were expecting an easy, cut-and-dried answer about the best sales holiday, you unfortunately won’t be getting it here.
If we take price (and only price) into account then there is a big chance that Black Friday deals will put the price of your target item down to something lower than it is today. But, that’s less the magic of Black Friday than the magic of time. Much like a car after being taken off the lot, new models of things tend to go down in price over time. As a result, so will their lowest prices during sales events. Black Friday is four months away, and that’s a lot of time for an item’s price to decay, especially on techy items where we’re making advancements all of the time.
Alternatively, sometimes a deal price during Prime Day is discovered to be too aggressive. In this case, it is probable that the Black Friday price will be less intense. This is more likely for products in categories that aren’t being updated to new models every year and the tech is relatively stable.
But ultimately, a lot of this depends on you and your situation. If you have less money now, go ahead and wait. If the item you’re after will lead to greater summer fun, go ahead and buy it now if you’re ever going to.
Are Prime Day deals only for Prime subscribers?
Yes. To enjoy Prime Day, you need to be a Prime subscriber. However, there is an Amazon Prime free trial and that still makes you eligible for Prime Day. It’s available to new subscribers and anyone who has not had Amazon Prime in the last 12 months. It lasts a full 30 days and you get all the benefits like Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Music, and Prime Reading and Gaming too. You need to enter your payment details to sign up but you can cancel at any time so that no money is taken once the trial expires.
Students enrolled in an eligible higher education institution (i.e. most U.S. universities) can also enjoy an extended 6 month trial of Amazon Prime, while certain internet and cellular providers bundle such memberships in with some data plans. It’s worth checking before you commit.
If you truly don’t want (or are able) to sign up for Amazon Prime to check out Prime Day 2024, no problem. While you can’t check out the Amazon sale going on, you will be able to see the other discounts and sales going on with retailers like Best Buy and Walmart. We’d strongly recommend signing up for Prime just for July but there are at least backups with the other retailers if you’re not eligible or simply don’t want to.
You could also keep an eye on the Prime Day deals we post here and when you see one that’s perfect for you, sign up as the discount is likely to be greater than the price of Amazon Prime.
What to expect on Prime Day 2024
Prime Day is a pretty special sales event. It might technically only be exclusive to Amazon (more on that in a moment), but the company pulls out all the stops so you generally get plenty of value here. Outside of Black Friday, there’s no sale quite as good as Amazon Prime Day. In some cases, even Black Friday isn’t as good as Amazon’s offerings. It also has the key benefit of landing in the summer which is usually when your finances are less stretched rather than the holiday season when you realize there are seemingly endless expenses while you get your home prepared for the holidays, decorate everything, and visit tons of people during that time.
Prime Day feels more relaxed for you, while still offering the same wealth of discounts with a few extras thrown in.
Traditionally, Prime Day has a strong focus on Amazon owned products. That means if you’re looking to buy a Kindle or Echo speaker, you ideally want to wait until Prime Day for the discount. However, Amazon owns a lot more than it used to so you’ll also see big discounts on security equipment from Ring while there are great deals on Fire TVs and streaming sticks too. If you know Amazon owns it, you can expect to see it discounted during Prime Day 2024.
Alongside that, Amazon arranges many key deals with popular brands. Its focus is almost always on the brands that you actually want to own. Laptop deals and TV deals will certainly feature here. As well as that, count on seeing some great wearable deals along with Apple deals covering iPads, AirPods, Apple Watches, MacBooks, and anything else you can think of. Due to the time of year, you’ll often see garden equipment and grills on sale too. Talking of food, everyone’s favorite gadgets from Ninja like air fryers or blenders are also often popular in Prime Day sales.
Think of it this way — Amazon sells millions of products every day and it’s the go-to place for seemingly everything you could want to own. That thinking extends to Prime Day 2024 with a huge amount of its stock discounted. You’ll be surprised and impressed at how much is on sale during Prime Day.
Besides steady and reasonable discounts, there are also likely to be some significant discounts that are only briefly available via strict stock limits. Super cheap TVs are likely here but there may simply be a bargain streaming stick or even a PS5 if past sales are anything to go by. In many cases, you’ll be fine to check throughout the day but sometimes, you’ll need to be near to Amazon to avoid missing out on the absolute best deals.
That’s why we’re here to monitor all the best Prime Day deals so you don’t miss out on the deepest discounts.
