‘The Bachelorette’: 5 Guys They Should Bring Back for Rachel
Listen up, Team Bachelor! Given that you decided to make a very early announcement that current Bachelor contestant Rachel Lindsay will be the new Bachelorette, you have more time than usual to find 25 (or more?) eligible men for her to date. So no excuses — every single dude who steps out of the limo this spring had better be top-flight, telegenic husband material. But here’s the good news: You’ve already found some of the guys, and you didn’t even realize it! To help get the casting process started, we present five guys from past seasons of The Bachelorette who should come back for Rachel’s season.

1. Christian Bishop, 27
Seen on: The Bachelorette (Season 12), Bachelor in Paradise (Season 3)
Please don’t hold that blink-and-you’ll-miss it appearance on Paradise against him. All you need to know about this telecom consultant from Los Angeles comes courtesy of his Bachelorette intro package: He grew up being shunned by his white father’s side of the family — they didn’t even know Christian existed until he was in seventh grade — and now his purpose in life is to be a “great role model” for his younger brothers, Micah and Justice, who live with him. Plus, he gets up at 3:30 in the morning to work out.
2. Derek Peth, 30
Seen on: The Bachelorette (Season 12)
Is this investment banker from Iowa cerebral enough for Rachel (who’s an attorney from Dallas)? Maybe not. But he’s a sensitive sweetie who isn’t afraid to stand up for his “lady”: See the time he took Chad to task for his “misogynistic comments” on JoJo’s season of The Bachelorette, or the time he wasn’t afraid to cry when JoJo dumped him:
Plus, he set up a gofundme account to raise money to support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, in memory of his best friend’s sister, who was an advocate for those causes. All this, and he looks good in a ringer tee!
3. Jake Patton, 28
Seen on: The Bachelorette (Season 12)
We don’t know much about this handsome, gainfully employed landscape architect from California because Team Bachelorette gave him about 37 seconds of screen time. Indeed, Jake’s most notable moments from JoJo’s season of The Bachelorette were a) telling JoJo he’s an architect and b) encountering a nearly naked, fully drunk Daniel (whose job was listed as “Canadian”) in the hallway.
Is it surprising that some white idiot in a Speedo got more screen time (and lasted longer on the show) than a less “entertaining” black guy? No. But now the producers have a chance to right that wrong.
4. Jon Hamilton, 30
Seen on: The Bachelorette (Season 12)
Yes, this technical sales rep from Vancouver thought it would be a good idea to show up on The Bachelorette dressed in a kilt. (He’s part Scottish!) But as “Chinese guy who showed up in a kilt,” Jon is already about 26 times more interesting than most of the vanilla suitors who typically pile out of the limo on night one. Like Jake, he didn’t make it past the first episode. Time for a do-over!
5. Luke Pell, 32
Seen on: The Bachelorette (Season 12)
Almost seen on: The Bachelor (Season 21)
He was famously passed over for The Bachelor — in favor of franchise recidivist Nick Viall — so why not throw this war veteran and aspiring country music singer a bone? Would he be a good fit for Rachel? Eh… probably not. But since when has compatibility been a priority for casting?
The Bachelorette will premiere this spring on ABC. The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC. Watch clips and full episodes of The Bachelor for free on Yahoo View.
