Marvel's 'The Defenders': 5 things you need to remember from 'Daredevil,' 'Jessica Jones,' 'Luke Cage,' and 'Iron Fist' before watching
This week, Netflix’s Marvel series, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, will finally come together in The Defenders. The Avengers-style team-up will bring to a conclusion a number of plot elements that were laced throughout all four series, but with a total of five seasons leading into the big crossover, you might have forgotten some of the more pertinent information.
So to catch you up, we’ve listed five major plot points you’ll need to remember before diving into The Defenders in the video above.
On Daredevil, Elektra (élodie Yung) was killed battling the Hand, who later took the former assassin’s body and placed it into an ancient device. Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) mentor, Stick (Scott Glenn), warned of the Hand’s unstoppable weapon, the Black Sky.
Meanwhile on Jessica Jones, Jessica’s (Krysten Ritter) war against the mind-controlling Kilgrave (David Tennant) ended when she broke the Purple Man’s neck. Now considered a hero by the city, Jessica refuses to believe she is worthy of the term.
Luke Cage (Mike Colter) defeated his half-brother Diamondback (Erik LaRay Harvey) and admitted his feelings for Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), but his victory was short-lived. He’s been sent back to Seagate prison to finish out his sentence.
And on Iron Fist, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) and Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick) were able to defeat Bakuto (Ramon Rodriguez) and the Hand, but the ancient city of K’un-Lun has vanished.
How will this bring our heroes together? We’ll find out when The Defenders premieres Friday, Aug. 18 on Netflix.
