‘Nashville’ Preview: Guess Whose Daddy Is Coming to Dinner?
Is this Nashville or My Two Dads? On the midseason premiere of CMT’s country music drama, Scarlett learned that her fling Damien George — not bandmate and on-again, off-again boyfriend Gunnar Scott — is the father of her in utero child. Despite that emotional blow, Gunnar insisted that he still wants to help raise the baby. As you can see in this exclusive clip from the June 15 episode, that resolve is tested when his rival shows up on Scarlett’s doorstep brimming with pride about being part of an ultra-modern family. “Can you believe it — we are actually doing this,” Damien says, as he clasps Gunnar in a not-at-all-awkward embrace. “Guys, we can do this!”
Since nothing is ever simple in Nashville, don’t expect this trio to be hosting baby showers and diaper tutorials anytime soon. Scarlett herself clearly recognizes that Damien’s enthusiasm, not to mention his commitment, might not be 100 percent genuine. And Gunnar still has a lot of self-doubt to overcome before he can effectively co-parent. Forget My Two Dads — this could end up being an episode of Diary of a Single Mom.
Nashville airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on CMT.
