Technical Difficulties Get in the Way of Kristen Bell and James Corden’s Love Song
Kristen Bell joined James Corden on The Late Late Show Tuesday night for a moving performance of “Up Where We Belong.” The song was originally recorded by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes for the movie An Officer and a Gentleman, but James and Kristen’s rendition was somewhat more uplifting.
James and Kristen were wearing harnesses, and as they started singing, “Love lifts us up where we belong,” they were lifted into the air. But James wasn’t lifted nearly as high as Kristen. James immediately motioned to people off-camera, directing them to raise him higher — and when they finally started lifting him to where Kristen was, they also started lowering her down to the floor.
The two hilariously went back and forth like a teeter-totter as they struggled to sing the song. In the end, they briefly came together as Kristen let out a “Finally!” — but it didn’t last long. She was lowered to the ground as James exclaimed, “That was an absolute disaster!”
The Late Late Show With James Corden airs weeknights at 12:37 p.m. on CBS.
